The Rijeka CNT with its opera Giulio Cesare in Egitto (Julius Caesar in Egypt) in the direction and dramaturgy of Marin Blažević and Oliver Frljić and under the baton of Ville Matvejeff has given guest performance in the famous Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana tonight. Following successful performances in Rijeka, this opera, commended by both critics and the audience, has also captivated the Ljubljana audience, arousing standing ovations and shouts of enthusiasm. Comments could be heard as “impressive”, “brilliant soloists and direction”, “finally to experience Händel”.
Diana Haller sang the title role of Caesar and Anamarija Knego the role of Cleopatra. Sonja Runje sang the role of Tolomeo, Ivana Srbljan as Cornelia, Marko Fortunato as Sesta, Dario Bercich as Achilla, Slavko Sekulić as Curio and Olga Kaminska as Nireno. Marta Voinea Čavrak and Svebor Zgurić were ballet soloists, while members of the Ballet Joseph Cane, All Tabbouch, Vitali Klok, Andrei Köteles, Daniele Romeo and Svebor Zgurić also took part in the production. Jelena Lopatić played as a special appearance while Darko Matijašević and Boris Mohorić as sentry.
Dalibor Laginja and Marin Blažević created set design, Sandra Dekanić costumes, lighting design was by Dalibor Fugošić and movement by Balázs Baranyai. Igor Vlajnić was chorus master, and Anton Kyrylov concertmaster.
