The truly veristic whirlwind of passion was successfully and surely brought to the stage tonight by the soloists of Cavalleria rusticana, directed by Dražen Siriščević and conducted by maestro Paolo Bressan, whose performance was welcomed by the audience on stage during the show and enthusiastically applauded and cheered at the end.
Here is what they said:
“Excellent soloists, concentrated and fierce; you listen and you enjoy. Brilliant!“
“Very impressive. I have watched many performances of the opera Cavalleria rusticana. I always cry at Butterfly, but tonight was the first time I cried at Cavalleria. The show is so great: that love, that jealousy, that revenge. It is so powerfully brought and presented. I am leaving with a sense of beauty in me. Besides that, the frescoes that make up the scene are so brilliantly selected, so adapted to the whole story. Deserving of full praise!”
“I really like the minimalism, that cross, amazing scenography. The soloists and direction are excellent. This is a new experience for me, the orchestra that carries the music incorporated with the soloists on the stage. I felt the authenticity of Sicily.”
“It’s at a very high level. We are happy to finally see the opera again.”“The soloists are wonderful and so is the direction; all our expectations were met. We enjoyed it.”
“After a long time, we finally came to the theatre. It was great!”
A reprise of the opera Cavalleria rusticana is scheduled for Saturday, January 30 at 7:30 PM.
