The soprano of “beautiful voice, fluent singing, powerful emotional warmth, bright colors, gentle and crystal clear melodic lines, and subtly created dynamic songs, with effortless acting,” the principal of our Theatre Anamarija Knego, will sing at the concerts “Nessun Dorma 1” and “Nessun Dorma 2” on July 23 and 25 at the Square of Rijeka Resolution. On July 31, she will perform as Cleopatra in the premiere of the new version of Georg Friedrich Händel’s opera “Julius Caesar in Egypt – Anew”, directed and dramatized by Marin Blažević!
This season, we look back on her interpretations of the title role of Puccini’s opera “Madama Butterfly”, directed by Dražen Siriščević, and the role of Micaëla in Bizet’s “Carmen”, directed and dramatized by Marin Blažević.
In the “Nessun Dorma” concerts, she will sing an excerpt from Act 1 of the opera “La traviata” by Giuseppe Verdi, “Brindisi…,” “Un di felice…” and in addition to Violetta Valery, we will hear her as Mimì with her unforgettable aria “Si, mi chiamano Mimì…” and her duet with Rodolfo, “O soave fanciulla” from Act 1 of Puccini’s opera “La bohème.” At the first concert, she will also perform Liù’s aria “Tu che di gel sei cinta,” from Act 3 of Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Turandot.”
For her performance as Cleopatra in the opera “Julius Caesar in Egypt,” which premiered on May 7, 2016, Anamarija Knego won the audience award for the best female role in the Opera program in the 2015/2016 season. On the last day of July, you will once again have the opportunity to experience her as Cleopatra!
