Dance after dance, applause after applause! Tonight, the packed Rijeka Theatre was filled with sounds of the best-known waltzes, polkas, bolero, minuets, etc. The first of the four traditional New Year’s Concerts, performed by the excellent orchestra under the baton of the conducting star Yordan Kamdzhalov, lit up the faces of plentiful audience with joy!
Bizet, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Brahms, Khachaturian and Strauss Jr., masterly composers whose compositions have become festive tradition, found their place in the end of the year popular concert. Performances of some of the most famous and frequently played works of the festive repertoire have filled the audience with enthusiasm; some of them having shared their impressions: “A particularly friendly cooperation of the conductor and the orchestra, the performance was phenomenal, un unsurpassable experience here, in Rijeka!”; “Excellently thought of programme, it actually invites you to dance!”; “We enjoyed it immensely!”; “Best New Year’s concert so far, and we have attended it every year”; “ I’ve never seen a conductor without the score before! We’re delighted with the orchestra and the Maestro. Excellent!”.
Yes, Maestro Kamdzhalov has charmed the audience in Rijeka for the third time. This time last year it was the New Year Concert of the Japanese Philharmonic in Tokyo that he conducted.
There was the audience of all ages in the auditorium, from children to the grown-ups, as it usually is at an actual New Year’s Eve. There was happy clapping along to rhythm, the youngest being the most fervent. A concert no to be missed regardless of the age. This is the reason why besides the three planned concerts, the fourth one had to be added. You can still manage to grab the last tickets for the concert of the 29th of December, as all others have been sold out.
During the concert interval, visitors toasted with a glass of Golden Vrbnik Žlahtina, donated by the PZ Vrbnik, the New Year’s Concerts partner.
