Viktor Čižić is active on all fronts of musical art – from solo and chamber performances to composing and improvising. His work as a soloist notably includes performances with the Zagreb Philharmonic (3rd Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by Béla Bartók), Zagreb soloists (Concerto for Piano and Strings by Alfred Schnittke), the Tamburitza Orchestra of HRT (in a performance of Zlatko Potočnik’s own arrangement), and the OMG Orchestra (premiere of the composition Die Nachtmusik by Krešimir Klarić). His solo recitals are always interspersed with new music, featuring his own improvisations and compositions by local authors – of which he himself is one. His composition Zagreb Rhapsody for Solo Piano was premiered last year by pianist Vladimir Babin.
With great affinity for the field of chamber and contemporary music, he performs at the Zagreb Music Biennale, the Music Tribune and the Milko Kelemen Days, as well as at the Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam. In addition to contemporary music ensembles (Cantus ensemble, ASMANGU, Score Collective and the Turangalila quartet, which he also leads), he also collaborates with composers and and fellow instrumentalists, recording for Croatian Radio on several occasions, performing at the Darko Lukić Tribune as an artistic associate, and participating in numerous concert tours, festivals, and other music events in Croatia and abroad. He has collaborated with almost all the orchestras in Zagreb, including jazz orchestras and ensembles, and has worked in opera and theatre productions, as well as in the organization of concerts and festivals.
Upon completion of his studies at the Fifteenth Gymnasium in Zagreb and the Vatroslav Lisinski Music Academy (in the class of Branka Fačini-Vrhovski), he continued his education in the classes of Dalibor Cikojević and Filip Fak at the Music Academy in Zagreb, and in the classes of Frank van de Laar and Ralph van Raat as part of a student exchange at the Amsterdam Conservatory. He is the winner of the Darko Lukić Certificate and the Rotary Club Award.
