In 2021 Toni Nežić became an alumni of Accademia Teatro alla Scala under the guidence of one of the most prestigious mezzo-sopranos in the world- Luciana D’Intino. Most recently he sang the role of Pistola in Verdi’s Falstaff at Lausitz Festival directed by Daniele Abbado. At the end of 2021 he was the cover for the role of Banco in production of “Macbeth” by Verdi that opened Teatro alla Scala’s 2021/22 season under the baton of Mo. Riccardo Chailly and directed by Davide Livermoore.

He has started his fellowship at La Scala at the age of 28 with 10 performances of Rigoletto in 2019 in which he portrayed the role of Sparafucile alongside Leo Nucci and under the baton of mo. Daniel Oren and directed by Gilbert Deflo. By now he has performed more than 20 times as Alidoro in Teatro alla Scala’s production of La Cenerentola per i bambini by Rossini, which he also performed in a livestream.

In March of 2021. mr. Nežić sang the bass part in Verdi’s Requiem at the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin.

In 2020. he performed as bass soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony nr. 9 in Padova with “Orchestra di Padova e di Veneto” under the baton of Marco Angius.

2019 saw mr. Nežić participating in the Placido Domingo Gala held at Teatro alla Scala with Placido Domingo, Feruccio Furlanetto, Saioia Hernandez, Jorge de Leon and under the baton of mo. Evelino Pidò. That same year Mr. Nežić also performed in one of the biggest and most important Croatian music festivals – “Music Biennale Zagreb”, performing the part of bass solo in the Salut au Monde by Mirko Kelemen. In the same year he has also performed in the world premier of an opera The Blue Bird by Olja Jelaska, held at another important Croatian festival – “Osor Musical Evenings” as a concert performance.

Autumn of 2018 had Mr. Nežić as Marco in performances of Il Bravo by Mercadante and Don Pasquale in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale at Wexford Opera Festival. He made his debut at Wexford Opera Festival in 2017 as Sparafucile in Rigoletto and Mujich in Franco Alfano’s Risurezzione.

Nežić made his professional debut in 2016 as a soloist in Haydn’s Nelsson Masse in Zagreb, Croatia with one of the Croatian’s most famous orchestra – that of the Croatian National Television. Since then he collaborated with Croatia’s most distinguished conducters such as mo. Mladen Tarbuk, mo. Nikša Bareza etc. while working with the Croatian National Television’s orchestra, Zagreb Philharmonic and Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Nežić earned his Master’s degree in Vocal performance at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, Croatia. He performed numerous roles during his studies, the most distinguished one being the role of Claudio in Agrippina by Handel.

Nežić is a recipient of several awards, such as the first award at the Lazar Jovanović competition in Belgrade, Serbia; an award for a best performance of a sacral piece in Vrable, Slovakia and the first award at the National Competition of Students of Music in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
