ORIENT EXPRESS
Piano Recital

Performed by:

4 July 2026

Orient Express, a myth that ignites the imagination with adventure, refinement, and mystery, has connected the western and eastern parts of the European continent since the end of the 19th century. The music that could have been heard — either real or imagined — along its trans-European routes represents a kind of transcultural journey: colourful, stylistically diverse, and rich in contrasts.

In this programme, the author’s imagination merges with historical facts, stylistic and national characteristics of the music of individual countries, as well as the refined elegance par excellence characteristic of luxury travel during the Belle Époque period.

Programme: selected works by Poulenc, Massenet, Liszt, Friedman, Donizetti, Zajc, Pejačević, Nielsen, and Balakirev.
