One of the most distinguished and sought-after sopranos of her generation, Edith Haller is renowned for her powerful, luminous voice and remarkable stage presencethrough which she is particularly well suited for the great Wagner and Strauss heroines. She has already performed at some of the most important opera houses and festivals, including the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Opéra National de Paris, London’s Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera and the Bavarian State Opera. She further enjoys a particularly close relationship with the Bayreuth Festival, where she appeared for several summers in various roles, including Sieglinde and Elsa.

Beyond her successes as Elsa, Elisabeth, Senta, Sieglinde, Chrysothemis, Ariadne, Leonore in Fidelio, Marie in Wozzeck and Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes, Edith Haller has recently been transitioning into the hochdramatische repertoire with roles such as Isolde, Brünnhilde, Ortrud, Kundry, the Färberin and Turandot.

Born in Merano in South Tyrol, Edith Haller studied opera, concert and lied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. She gained international attention as first prize winner of the “Mario Lanza” singing competition in Filignano in 2003. From 2002-2005, the singer was a member of the ensemble at the St. Gallen Theatre, where she enjoyed success in the lyrical and youthful dramatic repertoire. Moving on to the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe in 2005-2009 led her deeper into the German repertoire.

Since 2009, Edith Haller has been working as a freelance singer at international opera houses as well as in concert with leading international orchestras. She has performed with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and the RSO Berlin, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Hilversum Radio Filharmonisch Orkest.

Edith Haller has worked with prominent conductors including Christian Thielemann, Philippe Jordan, Adam Fischer, Marek Janowski, Zubin Mehta, Andris Nelsons, Riccardo Muti, Ingo Metzmacher, Simone Young and collaborated with directors such as Graham Vick, Tancred Dorst, Claus Guth, Günter Krämer, Dieter Dorn, Giancarlo Del Monaco and Philippe Arlaud.
