Leonardo De Santis

In this season

Born in Rome, Leonardo De Santis started his studies in Rome at the school of Balletto di Roma, under the direction of Mrs. Paola Jorio. When he was 16 he moved to Pistoia joining the AXE Ballet school, where he had the chance to improve his technique, especially in modern and contemporary dance. In Pistoia he had the opportunity to study with Mauro Murri, Marc du Bouays and with pedagogues from the Art University of the Codarts Dance Academy. During those years Leonardo attended numerous intensives in USA, in schools such as Boston Ballet, ABT and The Juilliard School. In 2018 Leonardo moved to Florence where he joined the school of Balletto di Toscana, under the artistic direction of Mrs. Cristina Bozzolini and where he worked with the choreographer Valerio Longo. At the age of 19 Leonardo was accepted to Rambert School in London, where he got a Foundation Degree from the University of Kent in Ballet and Contemporary dance. During his time in London, Leonardo had the opportunity to improve his ballet and contemporary technique with teachers such as Paul Liburd, Amanda Britton, Darren Ellis, Paul Clarke, Chris Wright, Ayumi Hikasa, and Nicole Guarino. At the same time he had the honour of working with choreographers such as Isham Rustem and Julie Cunningham, thanks to whom Leonardo was involved in ‘Drew Lines’, a production for the Sadler’s Welles in London. After his graduation, Leonardo joined DAF, in Rome, under the direction of Mauro Astolfi, artistic director of Spellbound Contemporary Ballet. Here, he had the chance to work with choreographers such as: Sofia Nappi, Ricardo Campos Freire, Alex Clair, Mauro Astolfi, Francesca Frassinelli, Dor Mamalia and Juan Tirado.
