Dear Audience,
For decades, we have appeared before you on the stage of the Rijeka Theatre almost every evening, because your applause and support are the reason the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc exists. The Rijeka audience has always supported its theatre and helped with the renovation of the building and the production of the program.
Today, due to epidemiological measures, we are only able to use half as many seats in the auditorium per performance, and many of our audiences are facing changing financial situations and security, which prevent them from being able to come to the theatre as they did previously.
Like many theatres across the world, our Rijeka Theatre has been brought to the brink of survival by the pandemic. Although we are all profoundly grateful to the City of Rijeka, that is, primarily to the citizens of Rijeka, who allow us to work and create, the costs of program production are covered mostly by the proceeds from program sales. Thanks to the European Capital of Culture program, we will be able to perform plays and concerts for another month that would be difficult for us to access in “normal” years, and which would be completely unimaginable in a year in which revenues from program sales have fallen by over 60%.
We therefore ask that if you purchase a subscription or ticket at our box office, to please make an additional donation if you can. This will be recorded as a donation and used exclusively for the production of theatre programs this season.
Every donated amount is important and will be recorded, and you will be able to see which program production costs the donation was used for.
