Online Exhibit: What Makes a Theatre
On Tuesday, April 21, we were reminded of the words of Ljubodrag Brgić, Secretary General of the “Ivan Zajc” National Theatre in the 1950s.
In the text “The Rijeka Stage’s Path of Development” (“Razvojni put riječke pozornice”), published in the 1995 Bulletin on the occasion of ten years of theatre operation, he explains why the true roots of our Rijeka theatre should not be sought either in the Adamić theatre from 1805 or in the plays performed on the stage of the magnificent theatre building completed by Fellner and Helmer in 1885, but rather in Rijeka’s humble Public Library.
