One of the most famous and most spectacular stage cantatas conquering all the concert halls and opera houses around the world from the very day of its premiere. Carmina Burana is a collection of indecent and satirical songs written in the 11th or 12th century. Twenty-four songs from “Carmine Burana” have been framed by a German composer Carl Orff in 1936 and starred in Frankfurt in 1937.

In the Summer of 2018. this legendary masterpiece will once again shine in all of its splendour in the unique ambient of Arena in Pula magnified with the force of as much as 200 performers led by one of world’s most popular opera divas – Sumi Jo.

As a world class coloratura soprano, this Grammy winner, Oscar nominee and UNESCO’s Artist of Peace actively extended her role in various opera productions in the world opera stages. Praised for the remarkable agility, precision and warmth of her voice, and for her outstanding musicianship, Sumi Jo has established herself as one of her generation’s most sought-after sopranos. She has been consistently greeted with exceptional accolades, by public and press alike, for her performances in the most important opera houses and concert halls throughout the world such as Milan La Scala or New York Carnegie Hall and Metropolitan. Her vocals surpassed the classical music genre, including, among other things, music for several movies, performing on the tour with Andrea Bocelli, singing at the closing of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games and highlighting many humanitarian performances.
