Do you miss the usual Advent events in our city? The Advent atmosphere has already filled the theatre building, a true Advent oasis in a safe environment. Come experience the Christmas atmosphere at the performances of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker, choreographed by Mauro de Candia on December 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23 and 24.
Based on the fantastic fairy tale “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” by E.T.A. Hoffmann, this extremely popular ballet classic has become a symbol of Christmas without which it is difficult to imagine the holiday season. This family favorite, loved by children and adults alike, will introduce you to the magical world of Disney-like fairy tales. The staging by Italian choreographer de Candie translates the famous ballet story into the present time, and the choreographer opens to the audience a new world between reality and dream rife with magic.
The ballet premiered in December last year to the delight of both audiences and critics. “The scenography, costumes, lighting design and well-coordinated dancers, the dynamic play of each protagonist, the amazing fusion of reality and dream — all this emotionally affected the audience to the last tone and movement,” concluded Gloria Fabijanić Jelović in her review for Radio Rijeka.
