The Cuban-born tenor Bryan Lopez Gonzalez was born in La Habana where he studied at the Conservatorio Amadeo Roldán with Adolfo Casas. Following his graduation, he was immediately engaged as a soloist by the Opera Nacional de Cuba where he performed numerous roles, including Alfredo in La Traviata, Tonio in La fille du régiment and the Steersman in The Flying Dutchman.

In 2016 he made his European debut at the Valle d’Itria Festival in Italy singing Ferrando in Così fan tutte under the baton of Fabio Luisi, and took part in the Accademia del Belcanto Rodolfo Celletti in Martina Franca. From 2016 to 2018 he was a member of the opera studio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. He also obtained a master degree from the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf under the guidance of Prof. Konrad Jarnot.

In addition to his leading Mozart roles such as Belmonte, Ferrando, Don Ottavio, Tito and Tamino, he has been building his reputation singing the great tenor parts of the Italian Belcanto: Conte Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Ramiro in La Cenerentola, Lindoro in L’Italiana in Algeri, Libenskof in Il viaggio a Reims, Arturo in I puritani, Elvino in La Sonnambula, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor and Ernesto in Don Pasquale. His repertoire also includes Alfredo in La Traviata, Duca in Rigoletto, Rodolfo in La Bohème and the ‘Italian singer’ in Der Rosenkavalier.

Bryan’s most recent successes include Tito at the Washington Opera, Almaviva at the National Opera of Cluj, Ernesto at the Theatre Krefeld-Mönchengladbach and Carlino in Fioravanti’s Le cantatrici villane at the Festival Arezzo Raro.

In 2022 Bryan was cheered for his portrayal as Romeo in Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette” at the National Theatre in Rijeka / Croatia and Ljubljana, and as Rinuccio in  Fabrizio Melano’s new production of “Gianni Schicchi”, which he will also performed at the Savonlinna Festival in summer 2022. He sang the role of “Tempo” in Händel’s “Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno” in Mainz and made his debut at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Recent guest appearances took him to the Theatre Vorpommern in North-Eastern Germany and the Slovenian National Opera in Ljubljana.
