Tomorrow’s symphony concert titled “BECOME RIVER – Adams, Shostakovich” on the Square of Rijeka Resolution (Trg Riječke rezolucije) is almost sold out, so if you want to witness another Croatian musical premiere in Rijeka, you’ll have to hurry to secure one of the few remaining tickets!
The Rijeka Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by maestro Ville Matvejeff, and visitors will hear the Croatian premiere of the song “Become River” by the popular and award-winning American composer John Luther Adams. This extremely evocative and aptly named composition — in that the name of our city, Rijeka, is the Croatian word for “river” – will continue a series of thus-far unperformed compositions in Rijeka.
After Adams comes Dmitri Shostakovich’s magnificent Twelfth Symphony, better known by its subtitle “The Year of 1917.”
This symphony concert is a part of the ECoC – Rijeka 2020 program.
You will once again be able to see and hear the Rijeka Symphony Orchestra at the opera aria and duet concerts “Nessun Dorma 1” and “Nessun Dorma 2” on July 23 and 25 at the already popular summer location, the Square of Rijeka Resolution.
