Slovenian soprano Mojca Bitenc will make during the 2020/21 season debut in the Hamburg opera house as Donna Anna (W. A. Mozart, Don Giovanni) and Micaëla (G. Bizet, Carmen), role debut as Nedda (R. Leoncavallo, I Pagliacci) in the Ljubljana opera house and debut as Suzel (P. Mascagni, L Amico Fritz) at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl, concert appearances include Mahler`s Symphony No. 2.
Her opera debut was in the Ljubljana Opera house as Euridice (C. W. Gluck, Orfeo ed Euridice). Past seasons have included performances of Donna Anna (W. A. Mozart, Don Giovanni), the title role in Slovenian opera Ksenija (V. Parma), Antonia (J. Offenbach, Les Contes d`Hoffmann), Violetta Valery (G. Verdi, La Traviata), Mařenka (B. Smetana, Prodaná nevěsta) and Pamina (W. A. Mozart, Die Zauberflöte) in the Ljubljana Opera house. In the Maribor Opera house she sang Liu (G. Puccini, Turandot), and in the festival Zomeropera Alden Biesen in Belgium she sang Tatiana (P. I. Tchaikovsky, Eugene Onegin). After her great success as Contessa (W. A. Mozart, Le Nozze di Figaro) in a production of Bregenz Festival in 2017, the festival invited her to perform Micaëla (G. Bizet, Carmen) at the 2018 festival, where she also sang Dvorak’s Te deum with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
She holds a Master in Musical Arts – Singing summa cum laude at the Ljubljana Music Academy, Slovenia (prof. Barbara Jernejčič Fürst) and another Master of Singing at the Zagreb Music Academy, Croatia (prof. Vlatka Oršanić). She attended masterclasses with Helena Lazarska, KS Brigitte Fassbaender, KS Edda Moser and Vlatka Oršanić. She has also graduated at the Ljubljana Faculty of Medicine.
She won several prizes at international singing competitions including Lav Mirski International Competition, Osijek, Croatia (1st prize), Zinka Milanov International Competition, Rijeka, Croatia, 2016 (2nd Prize and Audience award), Ada Sari International Competition, Nowy Sacz, Poland, 2017 (2nd Prize), International Mozart Competition, Salzburg, Austria, 2018 (3rd Prize), International Competition Ferruccio Tagliavini, Deutschlandsberg, Austria, 2019 (2nd Prize, Audience award, a special prize for the best soprano finalist in memory of Dame Joan Sutherland and the Karl Böhm special prize for the best interpretation of part of Mozart).
As a soloist she performed with many orchestras (the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Ljubljana Opera Orchestra, the Budapest Opera Orchestra, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra …).
She frequently has concerts and recitals in Slovenia and abroad.
