The Rijeka Ballet is making guest appearances with two of last season’s hits, which delighted both the audience and critics. On Wednesday, October 14 at the Đakovo Cultural Center, our Ballet will perform “Lace” (“Čipka”), choreographed by Maša Kolar and with original music by Tena Novak Vincek. After the premiere performance, the Radio Rijeka critic Glorija Fabijanić Jelović concluded that “such choreography requires great physical readiness from each performer and an excellent memory. The result was a beautiful lace weaving of dance, visually equally strong and ethereal in every movement, with the signature of Maša Kolar who pulls the most unusual images from the dancers’ hands. The combination of the tradition we inherit with contemporary dance expression has reached the heart of every spectator.”
After Đakovo, our Ballet will travel to Slovenia, to the Borštnik Theatre Festival in Maribor. They will perform the ballet-dance show “Burning Water” by world-famous choreographer Andonis Foniadakis on Friday, October 16. The theatre critic of Novi List, Kim Cuculić, emphasizes that after the premiere, “applause broke out in the Zajc auditorium, and there was a standing ovation for the writing team and performers,” pointing out that the members of the Rijeka Ballet further pushed their performance limits, showing that they are ready for various challenges, from classical ballet to such modern dance steps.”
The Rijeka audience will be able to see reprises of both performances in October. The Ballet “Lace” is scheduled for October 17 at 6 PM, and “Burning Water” is scheduled for October 19, 22 and 23, starting at 7:30 PM.
