A real treat for all opera lovers is the guest appearance of one of the world’s greatest prima donnas of the last few decades, Karita Mattila, in our Theatre. The lyrical beauty of this Finnish soprano’s voice singled her out as one of the most sought-after opera singers in the world. She has won two Grammy Awards, among many others, and has performed on the world’s most famous opera stages alongside the world’s greatest orchestras.
At the Rijeka concert, accompanied by the Rijeka Symphony Orchestra under maestro Ville Matvejeff, Karita Mattila will perform famous arias from operas by Sibelius, Dvořák, Puccini, Wagner and others. The Gala Concert, part of the ECOC – Rijeka 2020 project, will be held on September 18, starting at 8 PM.
