Aljaž Farasin

In this season

Aljaž Farasin graduated summa cum laude from the voice department to the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in 2008, while in the year 2010 concluded his postgraduate studies – both with Prof. Vlatka Oršanić. He brought his singing to an even higher level with Marvin Keenze, Helena Lazarska, Hans – Josef Kasper.
During his years at Secondary School of Music in Maribor he appeared at the Musical September Festival in Maribor (2003 and 2004), participated in the opening concert of the 2003/04 season at SNG Opera and ballet Maribor, and recorded for the musical archives of RTV Maribor. In 2004 he was awarded the first prize in a
national singing competition. He has sung in the RTV Slovenian Chamber Choir, at the SNG Opera and ballet Ljubljana (Aida, The Love for Three Oranges) and SNG Opera and ballet Maribor (Turandot, La Boheme, La Traviata, Macbeth, Ernani, The Two Foscari, Don Carlos, The Elixir of Love, Hymnus, Poet and Rebel, Falstaff, Fedora, Carmen) opera houses.
In 2009 he made his debut as Sempronio in J. Haydn´s Apothecary (SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana and the Ljubljana Festival) and appeared in the role of Tamino in the performance of W. A. Mozart´s Magic Flute. In SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana he performs in following operas: Marry widow as Camille, Don Giovanni as Don
Ottavio, La Traviata as Alfredo, The Elixir of Love as Nemorino, Rigoletto as Duca di Mantova, Otello as Cassio, Gianni Schicchi as Rinnucio, Il Mondo della Luna as Ecclitico, Madama Butterfly as Pinkerton, La Boheme as Rodolfo, Carmen as Don Jose, Salome as Naraboth, The Bat as Alfred, Katya Kabanova as Boris.
In June 2015 he sang Don Jose in Carmen production with SNG Opera in Balet Maribor on tour in Japan with Vesselina Kasarova in title role. In season 2015/16 he made his debut as Vladimir Lensky in Evgeny Onjegin in HNK Ivana pl. Zajca Rijeka and as Vaudemont in Iolanta in Narodni Divadlo in Prague.
Appearances in HNK Ivana pl. Zajca led him to perform in Massnet`s Werther (directed by Fabrizio Melano, leading stage director in Metropolitan opera in New
York in 1980`s), Verdi`s Rigoletto as Duca di Mantova, Gounod`s Faust, Suppe`s Il ritorno del marinao.
For label Universal Classic he recorded operas Il ritorno del marinao and Faust, in title role, together with world class opera singers Marjukka Tepponen, Carlo
Colombara and Lucio Gallo.
In season 2016/17 he sang in France with opera de Rennes in the production of Katya Kabanova and in Jynvaskyla festival in Finland. In April 2017  he made his debut as Fenton in Verdi`s Falstaff, in June 2017 as Macduff in Verdi`s Macbeth.
