Maida Hundeling

German soprano Maida Hundeling was born in Bizerte, Tunisia. She began her vocal studies with Werner Schürmann (D); from 1999 to 2007 singing and interpretation work with KS Olivera Miljakovic (Vienna).

The internationally successful singer has placed her artistic focus on the German repertoire of R. Wagner, C.M. von Weber, R. Strauss and others, but also enjoys presenting the dramatic roles of Verdi and Puccini, among others. She also likes to interpret roles from the Slavic repertoire, in particular those from Janáček, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky. Her most recent engagements include: Turandot (SND Bratislava), Fidelio (SND Bratislava) Tosca (ND Brünn), Elektra (Slovakian Philharmonic in Bratislava), Aida (Schlossfestspiele Schwerin) the Foreign Princess / Rusalka (Houston Grand Opera), Jenufa (ND Brünn), Aida (Thurn und Taxis Schlossfestspiele Regensburg) Desdemona / Otello (NDM Ostrava), Senta / The Flying Dutchman (Lübeck), Elektra (Staatstheater Braunschweig), Tosca (SND Bratislava), Tosca (Thurn and Taxis Schlossfestspiele Regensburg), Helmwiege / Die Walküre (ROH London and Staatsoper Hamburg), Senta and Brünnhilde (Teatro Fondazione Petruzelli Bari), Tosca and Nabucco (NDM Ostrava), Aida and Nabucco (Arena di Verona).

The Rijeka audience already knows Maida as Elektra, Aida, Isolde and most recently as Tosca.

In upcoming engagements she will perform as solo soprano in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony (Teatro La Fenice), Ortrud in Lohengrin (ROH London) and as Brünnhilde in Die Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung (NCPA Peking).
