Our audience, lovers of opera, has been waiting and hoping for the swift return of opera titles to the Zajc stage, as evidenced by the numerous enthusiastic reactions to our announcement of the opera’s return to the theater program. Of course, our Theater respects and adheres to all current anti-epidemic measures, but we have decided to approach them creatively and thus not only ensure that the program is safely performed and monitored, but also that viewers are provided with a new experience of favorite titles.
The performance of opera titles will begin with Bizet’s opera Carmen, already on Thursday, January 21, and Saturday, January 23. The title role will be played by Michaela Selinger, who has already delighted audiences and critics alike in this role. Aljaž Farasin will perform the role of Don José, and the role of Escamillo will be played by Luka Ortar. The performances will be conducted by the chief conductor, Maestro Valentin Egel. The new performances of Carmen are a kind of compromise in accordance with today’s circumstances. Witness some of the atmosphere for yourself with a glance at the photo album.
Our dear audience, thank you for your ongoing support and loyalty, leading to the tickets to be sold out in a very short time. If you were unable to get a ticket to Carmen, you still have the opportunity to see the premiere of Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria rusticana on January 27, conducted by Maestro Paolo Bressan and directed by Dražen Siriščević, with a reprise performance on January 30. Soon after will follow the premiere of Verdi’s La traviata, conducted by Valentin Egel and directed and dramatized by Marin Blažević.
