It is for these Rijeka Summer Nights that the Croatian drama company is staging the revival of Turbofolk, one of the most famous, most awarded and most frequently performed plays of the CNT Ivan pl. Zajc. Through mobile phone melodies, the lifestyle of the new social elites and the folk music clubs, all of which more and more take part in creating of the identity of a new generation, turbofolk is very much present in our milieu, unstoppably entering all the society pores. This play is trying to give answer to the question on where the justification for such a fascination with this phenomenon is, why more and more young people, and not only them, identify with its stars and songs, on whether the repressive approach lowers or increases the interest for it, also to indicate a whole range of paradoxes that surround the turboflok. In its reloaded, that is, Riloudid edition, the Turbofolk is staged with a new actors’ cast and made topical for the times in which it comes back on stage.
