Just a few steps from Korzo, on the Square of Rijeka Resolution, the “Nessun Dorma” concert was held, for which more tickets were requested. The pleasant summer evening at this sold-out venue was filled with the most famous melodies from the operas of Verdi, Mozart, Donizetti, Saint-Saëns, Puccini, and Mascagni, with interpretations by the top soloists of the Rijeka Opera and the Rijeka Symphony Orchestra, all conducted by Beatrice Venezi.
The titular song “Nessun dorma” was performed by two tenors, Aljaž Farasin and Domagoj Dorotić. The audience could not contain their emotions, nor the applause that broke out in the square at the climax of the song, a piece which for Rijeka’s citizens carries with it the memory of football success.

There will be no sleeping on Saturday, either, when the second concert follows, this time with a slightly different program! “Nessun Dorma 2” will take place at the same place and time on July 25, featuring the same performers! Only a few tickets remain, as a few extra seats were added due to high audience interest. At the next concert, you will be able to hear arias and duets that will announce new titles in next season’s opera repertoire: Verdi’s Aida and Don Carlo, as well as Puccini’s Turandot.
Saturday’s concert is preceded by the presentation of the international edition of the CD “Nikola Šubić Zrinjski”, performed by the Opera of the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc, at 7:30 PM on the Square of Rijeka Resolution. Participants will include the music historian and critic Bosiljka Perić Kempf, as well as the conductor and soloists whose performance was recorded on the CD: Ville Matvejeff, Kristina Kolar, Robert Kolar, Anamarija Knego and Aljaž Farasin.
