THEATRE PRINCIPAL ALJAŽ FARASIN AT THE “NESSUN DORMA” CONCERTS

23 July 2020

This evening, the first concert of opera arias and duets, “Nessun Dorma”, will take place on the Square of Rijeka Resolution starting at 9 PM. The second concert is on Saturday, July 25, at the same time and location. In case of rain, the concerts will be performed in the main building of the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc.

One of the performing tenors is an audience favorite and principal of the Theatre, Aljaž Farasin, who has already performed a vast repertoire on the Rijeka stage and developed an impressive array of roles and characters for which the audience has regularly rewarded him with applause and the highest critical praise.

Aljaž Farasin, whose Rijekan Alfred Germont we still remember fondly, will sing in the excerpt from Act 1 of La traviata, “Brindisi… Un di felice…” and will perform the concert’s titular aria, “Nessun dorma,” an interpretation for which the most Rijeka residents certainly remember him. In 2017, Farasin sang from the balcony of Radio Rijeka, where crowds of people gathered on Korzo to celebrate Rijeka winning the title of Croatian football champion for the first time.

In addition, at tonight’s concert the audience will enjoy the arias and duet between Rodolfo and Mimì from Act 1 of Giacomo Puccini’s opera and shocking love story, “La Bohème”.

This season, you will be able to witness the noted tenor as Benjamin Franklin Pinkerton in the opera “Madama Butterfly”, directed by Dražen Siriščević, and in the role of the Shepherd in the opera “Tristan and Isolde”, directed by Anne Bogart.
