Premiere IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIAGiorgio Surian introducing Il Barbiere di Siviglia
Following Carmen that two years ago invited the audience to re-consider the relation of opera and drama but also, in the choreography-direction of Selma Banich, tensions and the dramaturgy of movement, we are adding a new title to the programme of our Opera Studio “Drama in Opera”, that is, Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, in the adaptation and direction of the national principal soloist of the Rijeka Opera, Giorgio Surian. Although closer to a theatrical experiment, the audience named our Carmen the third best performance in the season 2014/15, immediately after Don Giovanni and the Croatian Theatre.
Giorgio Surian will take a different, that is, his own path, and present another of the most popular operas in a new attire with the accent on comedy, but also the task to bring opera closer to the young audience especially, as they are regularly sceptical regarding opera.
