October 3, 2020, a charity performance in celebration of the 135th anniversary of the opening of the building and the launch of the Giorgio Surian Opera Studio.
Verdi’s opera Aida will be performed in concert or semi-stage. The new house conductor Valentin Egel will conduct the concert performance. This will also be a charity performance from which the revenues are intended for students of the newly launched Giorgio Surian Opera Studio, therefore all guests who normally receive tickets are invited to purchase them this time. All guest soloists will perform pro bono, donating their fees to the work of the opera studio.
The role of Aida will be played by the German soprano Maida Hundeling, who is known to the Rijeka audience for her performance in the titular role of Strauss’s Elektra, and for the role of Isolde in Wagner’s opera Tristan and Isolde.
