Arena Pula: 29th July 2018

One of the most famous and certainly the most spectacular world opera, the magnificent Aida – opera about love and patriotism is the work of the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi first performed in 1871. The first Croatian premiere took place in Zagreb in 1881 and in Rijeka in 1885 as a part of Rijeka Theater Building opening ceremony.

With Rijeka’s new 21st century Aida, the director Marin Blažević continues the series of bold and acclaimed opera productions such as Otello, Falstaff and Macbeth that have already captivated both experienced opera connoiseurs and the wider public.

Aida cast in Pula Arena is led by the biggest names of Croatian, European and world opera scenes, regular guests of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the legendary Milan La Scala , the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden in London, the Vienna State Opera and the leading Croatian opera houses – the National Theaters of Zagreb and Rijeka.

Running time:

The performance lasts about 3 hours, with an interval after Act II.
Scene change between Act I and Act II, also between Act III and Act IV.

Opera sung in Italian, surtitles in Croatian and English.
