SWAN LAKEPyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
What with the music, love story, or the choreography of clean lines, costumes or the set design, the Swan Lake is probably the most famous classical ballet, irresistible to all generations. Staša Zurovac took over the role of choreographer. Respecting the traditional dramaturgy he has made the choreography more contemporary in order to emphasise the bird quality but also the humanness of all the characters; their naturalness (which is subdued in the classical Swan Lake), but also a certain magic and unreality, which through human history has been connected with the ambiance of a lake. In the magical surroundings, the borders between swans, birds and people merge… There is mirroring in the water, mirroring of self into the other and mirroring of the other in the self; there are feelings that gradually embody and there is love. Will love hold on and at what price?
