Premiere CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA & PAGLIACCIPietro Mascagni - Ruggero Leoncavallo
CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA
PAGLIACCI
Riječki operni zbor
Riječki simfonijski orkestar
These two operas guided by a simple, true, powerful and tragic plot driven by love, passion, jealousy, injured honor, betrayal and revenge were created in the early 1890s and are often performed one after the other. Both take place in a sultry southern Italy ruled by traditional values; they provide a piece of real life, inspired by truth and evoking delight with untamed emotional power achieved through music. Don’t miss the Italian opera realism of these twin works of classic verism, the dramatic masterpieces Cavalleria rusticana by Mascagni and Pagliacci by Leoncavallo, the latter irresistibly inspired by the former.
